Welcome to Senior College!

Senior College of Central Nebraska is a learning opportunity with no prerequisites, exams or grades. Senior College offers classes, field trips, educational travel, lectures and special events on a large variety of topics to appeal to active seniors who are curious and committed to lifelong learning. The mission of Senior College is to provide a diverse curriculum of intellectually stimulating classes and special activities for Seniors and others in the Central Nebraska region. The non-credit classes are designed for active discussion, intellectual stimulation and enjoyment. Senior College is a stress-free learning environment; it is "learning for the fun of it."

Senior College is a Health Club for the Mind

The Senior College offers classes, field trips, educational travel, special events and lectures on a variety of topics taught by experts in their fields. Offerings range from such traditional college subjects as philosophy, creative writing, classical music, science, literature, and history to courses on senior law and healthcare as well as such eclectic subjects as family history, tai chi, line dancing and antiques.

Classes are taught in “semester” blocks - Fall, Spring and Summer. Fall and Spring classes normally meet for 2 hours once a week for 6 weeks while Summer classes meet for 4 weeks.

SC also offers a variety of short term special classes and events during the January-February “Winterim” as well as a Fall/Winter documentary film program.


Senior College Members are from Amherst, Axtell, Bertrand, Central City, Cozad, Elm Creek, Elwood, Franklin, Funk, Gibbon, Grand Island, Henderson, Holdrege, Kearney, Miller, Minden, Naponee, Overton, Pleasanton, Ravenna, Riverdale, Shelton and Wilcox.
