Volunteer Opportunities

Curriculum: 8-10 Members
Select courses for each semester, secure instructors, facilities and other resources; plan, organize and coordinate single-day events, including transportation when needed, prepare text for printing. This Committee meets monthly.

Marketing: 2-3 Members
Promote Senior College in the community to attract students and volunteers to the program; issue news releases, advertising, promotions and emails; prepare and update marketing materials for website; assist with production and distribution of class schedules

Newsletter Committee: 2-3 Members
Assist in the preparation of Newsletters that are circulated to the Membership three times each year. We are always looking for stories about our member’s activities, interesting classes, and reports on special events.

Membership - Class Liaisons: 8-10 Members
Members serve as liaison/contact person between instructor, facility, students, and the Board; Assists in training of all volunteers; members are responsible for contacting participants prior to the first class meeting to verify class registration, and attending first class meetings. Class Hosts attend the fist class session arriving 20-30 minutes to assist the instructor as needed, greet students as they arrive and distribute Senior College materials, discuss Senior College activities and opportunities, answer questions and in general make sure all students feel welcome.

Special Events Committee: Variable Membership
Senior College has several regular special events through out the year – Summer and Winter Socials, Sunday Soup, Sandwich and a Show (UNK Theater), day and overnight trips. The Special Events Committee helps make arrangements and makes sure that events come off without a hitch.
 
Board of Directors: 15 Members
The Board of Directors oversees the activities of the organization. The 15 Board Members are Members of Senior College who are elected by the Membership at the November Annual Meeting. Board Members serve three-year terms. The Board meets monthly (except December). Board Members are encouraged to participate in one or more of the Standing Committees of the Board.
