The course will look at the need for and history of the Endangered Species Act and then focus in on four species listed under the act that utilize the Platte River in Nebraska. The final day will be to look at the conservation efforts on the Platte River. Kearney is home to a variety of industrial enterprises of national importance. This class offers the opportunity to learn about industry’s importance to the local economy with onsite tours. Participants must be able to walk unassisted and be able to stand for an hour or more. In some instances, protective attire will be necessary. Class meets Tuesdays, September 13 through October 18 at 9:30 am with instructor Stan Dart. First class meets at Kearney Chamber of Commerce Meeting Room.
