From an unattractive wild grass in central Mexico to one of the three most important grain crops in the world, corn has come a very long way. Over the last 10,000 years or so, with the assistance of early farmers, it has changed from a non-descript grass of southern Mexico to the robust producer of one of the world’s principal food sources. This presentation will explore the archeologically fascinating search for the path of corn from “then” to corn “now”.
